Sound Ecologies Artist Series
Our artist series is one of our most successful projects! Sound Ecologies regularly hosts recitals and concerts featuring local, up-and-coming musicians performing new music by Indiana composers. These events also provide opportunities for collaboration with other non-profit groups: previous collaborators have included the University of Indianapolis, the Indiana Audubon Society, Better Indy Babies, UIndy Gardens, Indiana Native Plants, and the Indiana Astronomical Society among others. If you are interested in participating in our recital series as a performer, composer, environmental enthusiast, or visual artist, send us a message via the submission form on our Partners page.
A note from Sound Ecologies President, Luke Garrigus:
*Thanks so much to all of you who attended our 2024 artist series! As we wrap up, we wanted to highlight some statistics that we really believe are worth celebrating!
Through our partnership with University Heights United Methodist Church, University of Indianapolis, and generous funding from the Indianapolis Neighborhood Resource Center, we were able to host eight concerts at University Heights/Ruth Lilly Performance Hall!
These concerts featured 54 newly composed works, and highlighted over 120 individual local performers and artists.
In total, across these 8 concerts we had a total of 912 attendees.
We’re planning a very ambitious season in 2025! 13 of the 16 events that will be hosted next year will take place at UHUMC/Ruth Lilly Performance Hall. These events will be partially funded by a grant from the Indiana Arts Commission.
If you would like to donate to help support local artists, musicians, and the arts community in central Indiana, please consider donating to our GoFundMe Fundraiser for our 2025 season!

Publishing Adventures
Sound Ecologies is proud to offer publication partnerships. It is so important to us that new artists are able to get their work out into the world. Many first time authors, however, struggle to find companies willing to be the first to publish. Our purpose as an organization includes providing opportunities to rising artists that align with our mission. If you or someone you know is interested in partnering with us on a publication project, send us a message through our submission page under Contact Us. We’d be delighted to work with you!
Sound Ecologies Recording Projects
Sound Ecologies is focused on getting the word out about local artists and musicians. One of our more important goals is to provide recordings to the performers and composers whose work we feature at our events. In conjunction with Indianapolis-based and sound engineers Rob Funkhouser and Logan Purcell, our recordings are intended to capture the essence of our mission. If you are interested in sponsoring or participating in a recording project, contact us via the submission form on our contact page.
Hire A Musician
Sound Ecologies is striving to connect musicians, artists, poets, and writers with those searching for local talent. If you are in need of a musician or specific ensemble for an event, benefit concert, wedding, banquet, church service, or recital, we would love to connect you! We offer a centralized location to find incredible people to fit your artistic needs. Drop us a line via our submission page and we would be thrilled to assist. Sound Ecologies musicians have performed at weddings, funerals, community events, park concerts, benefit concerts, recitals, restaurants, and so much more. We’ve even given presentations at schools! We look forward to helping you find the perfect fit for your musical or artistic needs.
